The disaster in Haiti is making me sick. But I do want to highlight one thing. The Israelis are helping Haiti right now in a way no other country is. They have set up a working field hospital and have been delivering babies, provided much needed surgeries and will be staying for a least a month to help. Please donate to their cause if you can.
I'm not a blogger, I really don't care to talk about my personal life or feeling on the internet, but this is not about me, it's about the Haitian people. And if you pray please pray for these people, and pray that once the immediate news frenzy dies down, foreign nations and aid will continue to get to the Haitian people. My worse fear is after a few weeks, we will become numb to the suffering we see on our tv screens and stop caring. Haiti was practically and essentially destroyed. Port-au-Prince where my mother, and her mother and her mother before her was from was once the jewel of the Caribbean and now it's unrecognizable. I know there was a lot of corruption and violence and poverty in Haiti before the earthquake, but now we, as a nation as a people, as human beings have a chance to rebuild Haiti and make it a stable nation. Please do not forget about Haiti in a few days, a few weeks, a few months, or even years. This is not like when I was a kid and seeing children starving in Ethiopia with flies in their eyes. This is in our own backyard. Please help. Also there are a lot of Haitian orphans who need parents.
God Bless and I thank everyone who has helped Haiti.

Ramblings
Today I encountered a problem I've never had before when working out. I was running on the track with my hubby and all of sudden my legs started itching like crazy. Well actually the flab on my legs started itchy me. I mean I've always had sensitive skin, but this is ridiculous.
We decided it was time to get back to our workout routine, since we slacked off while we were on vacaton back East. My main motivation is I met this woman who in her younger years was able to do 200 push ups without stopping and 100 situps in one minute. Now there's no way I could get even close to that number, but I'd like to be able to do 30 real pushups, not the girlie ones without stopping, and 60 situps in a minute. That's my new fitness goal. I don't want to lose weight because then my clothes size will change and I bought new clothes in Providence. As long as I can stay a size 10 pants and a size 8 shirt, but with more muscle than flab I'll be okay. Besides when I'm skinny my face looks gaunt, and my head looks like a giant head monster.
Oh I just celebrated my 2 year anniversary with my hubby. He got me seasons 1 and 2 or Xena, I already have season 3. Oh and the My So Called Life, Complete Series DVD. I worshipped this show when I was 12-13yo, so I was so psyched. Oh and I got two books by Christopher Moore, he's a funny author, he does use some profanity though, but it's not excessive. Oh and I got another Bertrice Small book to add to my collection of Bertrice Small romance novels. At over 500 pages, it took me 2 days to finish, not non stop, but stop and go. I love books. I miss the NYPL so much, oh NY Public Library. Literally millions of books at my finger tips. I would go there once a week and take out 4-6 books for the train ride to work, going home, lunch break. Driving and no longer living near a terrific library have killed my reading kick. I would give anything to live in a town with a descent second hand book store.
Oh I made Ham Fried Rice for supper, albiet a little greasier than usual, but my wok had become unseasoned and super sticky so I had to use more grease than I normally would.
3 more days til my weekend. ;-)

Welcome Back Kotter
Welcome to my first blog post since I got married and moved half way across the country. Now I used to be a blogger. I started in August 2005 and rarely blogged until Hurricane Katrina and then only to plead for people to give money. Eventually I blogged as a way to get cute comments from my hunny. I actually enjoyed writing about my day, my thoughts, my gripes. So why did I stop? Well I got a little paranoid that people I worked with, or potential employers (when I was job hunting) would find my blog and I'd be dooced. Oh Dooce is this woman who blogged about her job and then got fired. Now I never blogged about my job, or my clients. I did occaisionally blog after a particularly stimulating grad school class, but nothing too salicious. So why am I blogging again, well this time my name is not attached to my blog. So for all anyone knows I could be a 7"2' Inuit in Manitoba, Canada.
I don't know if this will be a fairly regular blog. But I'll try. One thing I am very excited about is I am actually sticking to a fitness routine. Last Saturday I was out at my in-laws and talking to my sister-in-law about how hard it is to get motivated to actually work out. So I decided to motivate myself the way I did in college...with money. I would pick one friend and give her $20 which she would get to keep if I didn't finish a paper, let's say by 10pm that night, or whatever arbitrary time I picked. The bigger the paper, the more money I'd give. What can I say the thought of losing money is the best motivator. So I spoke to my husband and told him that if I fail to exercise at least 10 minutes a day from 4/27/08 until 5/28/08 he gets $200 with which to buy anything he wants. So far it has worked. I know it's only the 5th day, but so far I've done Pilates on Sunday, woke up at 5:45 am Monday morning to do Pilates before work, then walked/jogged 2 miles after work. Tuesday was not as good I was too tired that morning so I only did walking/jogging after work. Yesterday I did pilates and did pilates again today.
Plus I've given up on buying frozen meals. I normally cook a home cooked meal every day, but sometimes when I get home at 7pm, I'm too tired to cook, so I rely on my frozen food. So last Sunday I went back to cooking the way I grew up. I made two different meals to last the work week so I wouldn't have to cook when I got home. That has been a life saver. I did cook today, but only because I prepared the Chicken Kiev last night and it has to refrigerate for 24 hrs to get the maximum flavor. So we had Chicken Kiev and Risotto with Peas for supper.
Let's see I'm also drinking more tea. My favorite brand is Numi, out of Oakland, CA. The tea is fair trade, so the workers who farm the land get paid a fair wage and it's organic. My favorite is Gunpowder Green and Ruby Chai. My college roommate turned me on to this brand when she sent me a car package of things I can't get in middle America.
Oh we (me and my hubby) now have a regular sleep schedule, no more midnight sleeping for us. We try to get to bed by 11 now, which has helped me a lot, since I have to wake up at 6:10am. Oh and I switched to almost total online bill payment.
I think that's about it.
Have a great day!
